Tangier, Morocco –   May 9th 2018, Furukawa Electric Group establishes itself in Tangier Automotive City (TAC). The inauguration of the company’s first factory in Africa and the Middle East will take place in the presence of Mr. Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy; Mr. Takahide Kimura, Director and Corporate Executive Vice President of Furukawa Electric and General Manager, Communication Solutions Division;   Dr. Timothy F. Murray, Senior Vice President of Furukawa Electric and Chief Executive Officer of OFS and Dr. Peter C. Schultz, internationally recognized scientist, Director and Senior Advisor, OFS and co-inventor of fiber optics for telecommunications.

The UAE has the highest Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) penetration globally, with a coverage of 94.3%. A significant amount of this coverage is provided by Etisalat and as part of its commitment the service provider is continuously enhancing this network connectivity.

The new vessel is expected to be ready for business by the second quarter of 2020

Integrated Telecom Company (ITC), the leading Information and Communications Technology Company in Saudi Arabia and Sofrecom, an Orange Group subsidiary, signed an agreement to lead the Outside Plant (OSP) implementation and management in all regions of Saudi Arabia for the next 3.5 years and to provide planning, design and supervision expertise and knowledge transfer to ITC employees.

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) and Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) have announced that Corning will supply fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) optical solutions to STC, providing high-speed connectivity for its national network.

The entitled FTTX materials contract is one of the tangible move of STC into the journey in deploying the National Broadband (NBB) in Saudi Arabia. Such cooperation between both parties is an obvious alignment with the objectives of the National Transformation Program (NTP 2020) and with the Vision 2030.

The project, announced during a launch event held at the Grand Serail, would replace Lebanon's outdated copper wire infrastructure with fibre optic cables in an effort to boost the country's sluggish internet speeds.

CommScope and fiber supplier OFS have entered into a new long-term partnership that the two companies say will ensure the availability of optical fiber supply to CommScope for use in its customers’ networks.
